Your people stay with you
NEXO keeps track of the people in your life, and that is personal. So everything stays on your own iPhone and never reaches us.

What NEXO stores
Everything you put into NEXO stays in the app on your iPhone: the people and groups you add, their photos, addresses, important dates and contact details, your labels, notes, moments and week plan, and your settings.
NEXO does not sync with iCloud and has no server. If you back up your iPhone to iCloud or your computer, NEXO is included, like your other apps. That backup is covered by your agreement with Apple.
What NEXO asks for
Every permission is optional. NEXO only asks when you use the feature that needs it, and you can turn it off at any time in your iPhone's Settings.
-
Contacts
When importing, you pick who to bring in; NEXO only sees those people. To update their details later, NEXO asks for access to your contacts. NEXO never changes your address book.
-
Calendar
If you turn this on, NEXO looks through your calendar on your iPhone to see when you met someone. It only keeps, per person, how often and when you last met. Your events themselves are not stored.
-
Location
Only if you turn on "In de buurt" (nearby), and only while the app is open. NEXO uses a rough location to see who lives close by. Your location is not stored.
-
Photos and camera
To choose or take a photo for yourself or someone else. Only the photo you pick goes into NEXO.
-
Notifications
For reminders about birthdays, your week plan and things you wanted to follow up on. They are scheduled on your iPhone itself.
What does leave your iPhone
For two things NEXO needs outside help. Only what is listed below goes over the internet, and none of it goes to us.
-
Addresses, to Apple
To put someone on the map, NEXO sends their address to Apple to turn it into a place. While you type an address, Apple suggests matches, as in Maps. Apple's privacy policy applies.
-
Map data, from OpenFreeMap
Most of the map is built into the app. Only the shapes of towns are fetched from OpenFreeMap, for the part you are looking at. OpenFreeMap sees your IP address and which part of the map you request, as any website would. What has been fetched is kept on your iPhone.
When you call, message or email someone from NEXO, it opens the Apple app for that. NEXO itself sends nothing.
Your backup
NEXO can save a backup as a file. You choose where it goes, for example Files or iCloud Drive. It contains all people, groups, photos, notes and moments, so keep it somewhere you trust.
Deleting everything
You can delete people and groups in the app. Delete the app and everything is gone. Backups you made yourself remain until you delete them.
Children
NEXO is not made for children in particular and collects no data from anyone, children included.
Changes and contact
If anything changes in what NEXO does with data, this page is updated and the date at the top changes. Questions about your privacy? Email René Paalhaar, who makes NEXO.
